2023-2024
Beach Bears
With GeoWall left in a state of disarray, under the leadership from undergraduate James Zou, a new vision for the team was established to create a sustained organization to expand geotechnical engineering through a competition based medium.
Under James, the team re-established lab, design and build sessions, secured lucrative corporate sponsorships and field trip opportunities, and created its vast networks of websites, social media, and archives of all known GeoWall history and information. In addition, under James, he established the first UC Berkeley chapter of the California Geotechnical Engineering Association (CalGeo) that will expand geotechnical engineering through a professional development based medium and complement GeoWall.
Although the team’s performance at MidPac was less than stellar, the team was set on the right track for a massive expansion and a bright future.

2022-2023
Beardozers
After a couple years in lockdown, universities worldwide began to open up in-person once again and another revival attempt was made. As graduate students, Connor Geudeker and Carlos Jimenez recruited a ragtag crew of undergraduate friends to represent Berkeley at MidPac. This crew would win 2nd place at Chico State. At the conclusion of the 2023 MidPac Competition, with the entire crew graduating, the shadow of uncertainty loomed over as to whether the team will continue.

GeoBeardictions
With the onset of Covid, Carlos and Connor switched gears to adapt GeoWall onto cyberspace. Running with another GeoChallenge from the ASCE Geo-Institute, the team adapted with competing in Geo-Predictions at the virtual MidPac competition in 2020.

Bearricaded Inside
After an extended absence, the revival of GeoWall began in 2019, under Carlos Jimenez and Connor Geudeker. Progress was made as this team was preparing to compete in UC Berkeley at the 2020 ASCE MidPac Competition. The Covid-19 Pandemic would shut the world down on March 11th, changing the world forever, and halting GeoWall from a successful in-person revival.

(Geo-Bears)
A long time ago in an University far, far away…
A duo of inspired Geotech Civil Engineering students at UC Berkeley congregated together and BOOM! GeoWall was established at ASCE’s UC Berkeley Student Chapter. This crew competed at UC Berkeley in the 2011 ASCE MidPac Competition.
